May 15, 2007 -
Chocolate For Hearts, the charity promotion started by Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company in 2007, was designed to provide funding to the American Heart Association for research of heart disease all over the country. Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company wanted to raise money and awareness about heart disease, the number one killer of men, women, and children; something that affects everyone. The company also wanted to raise awareness about the American Heart Association and its messages about heart disease and the life style changes that everyone can make to improve their heart?s health. Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company?s premium blend of dark chocolate has undergone studies that show that it is not only heart healthy but releases endorphins and is full of antioxidants. The campaign embraced the idea that people could keep their hearts strong and healthy by doing something they enjoy, eating chocolate. What makes dark chocolate better than the more popular milk chocolate is the greater amount of cocoa mass found in the dark chocolate. Also, dark chocolate has less sugar and milk than found in milk chocolate.
For the Chocolate For Hearts campaign, Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company used its blend of dark chocolate and shaped it into bite sized hearts. Eight miniature hearts were sold in a red heart box for $4.95 in Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company stores and all 23 Dierbergs Markets grocery stores. $2.95 of every box sold was donated to the American Heart Association. Christina Abel, daughter of founder Dan Abel, stated that ?we have always been a strong supporter in charities such as the American Heart Association and we were happy that we could help raise money and awareness for such an important cause by selling chocolate.? Many customers felt that they were making a donation to the American Heart Association and getting a nice box of chocolates too.
The promotion ran in January and February of this year. The company hopes that Chocolate For Hearts will become an annual event and build awareness all across America letting people know exactly how serious heart disease is. In its first year, Chocolate for Hearts raised over $2,000 which will be donated to the American Heart Association. Currently, heart disease is the number one killer of men, women and children. ?Anything we can do prevent just one person from a heart attack makes it all worth it? remarked Abel.
About Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company:
Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company began manufacturing premium hand made chocolates in 1981. Prior to the company's opening, founder Dan Abel spent over a decade training with the finest candy makers in the world. His apprenticeship taught him everything there is to know about making premium chocolates in small batches. Some of the recipes used today come from old time candy makers dating back to 1904.
The original candy kitchen is still in operation today at the headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. Although the company has grown from one location to over a dozen retail stores, the same time honored methods of old fashioned candy making are still in place. Copper kettles mix the creamy centers that are then cut by hand after sitting on a chilling table. The centers are then enrobed by our meticulous candy makers, who inspect each piece before it leaves the candy kitchen. Most importantly, the chocolates consumed by customers are usually made the day they were purchased. There is nothing like a piece of chocolate the day it was made.
After twenty years into business, Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company began franchising our retail stores. The franchises were designed to represent our original St. Louis store. Each store makes their own chocolates on premises in their own candy kitchen ensuring freshness.
